Program Overview

Students who pursue the Online Teaching and Learning Certificate should have already earned their baccalaureate degree and wish to add to their education through the certificate program. This certificate provides students with the knowledge they need in order to design a curriculum, improve instructional skills, and incorporate technology into the educational experience. Participants who earn this certificate are often interested in working in the online teaching and learning field. Students will experience first hand how distance learning is formatted due to the online format of this particular certificate program.
This graduate certificate may also be taken as a part of the master's degree program. However, students who are not interested in pursuing this option may earn their certificate by itself. Designing online courses is a major part of the curriculum. Understanding how adults learn and the integration of alternative methods in learning is a major part of this profession.
