Program Details

Walden University offers a PhD in Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology. Develop the strong theoretical background needed to design and conduct research into the biological, psychological, behavioral, social, cultural, and environmental factors that contribute to health and illness. By learning how to apply advanced research methodologies, you can promote positive health behaviors and encourage change as a researcher in academic, medical, business, government, and community settings.

Choose from the Traditional or Fast Track path. For the highly motivated student with discipline and a flexible schedule, Walden offers an expedited path to your doctoral degree. With the Fast-Track option, you can complete your PhD in Psychology in a shorter amount of time by taking additional courses per term.

Note on Licensure. The PhD in Psychology is not a licensure program and does not prepare an individual to become a licensed psychology professional.


Students will be required to attend four residencies (Residency 2 may be virtual, Residency 4 may be virtual or a capstone intensive retreat).
