Program Details

Walden University offers an online human services degree, the Master of Science in Human & Social Services, with a concentration in Community Intervention & Leadership.  With this Community Intervention and Leadership concentration, students learn to engage organizations and communities in social change.  The curriculum teaches students to help organize, coordinate, promote, and lead efforts in communities to improve living and working conditions.  Courses emphasize action research where you will develop knowledge about working with communities; you will also describe and apply theories of community psychology in relation to social change.  Graduates are prepared to work in a variety of settings, including working as a community organizer, community worker, or program director for social services or human services in governmental and NGO organizations.

This online master’s in human services degree also includes courses in the broader field of human and social services, equipping you to help individuals, families, and organizations navigate the community's social services.  Courses develop human and social services competencies and strategies, preparing students to make a positive difference in a global context.

The program is not designed to lead to professional licensure.
