Program Details

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) online from Walden University is a specialization in Special Education for Kindergarten through 21 years of age.  This program is designed for individuals with bachelor’s degrees or higher with an interest in becoming teachers.  The curriculum features a series of academic requirements, known as milestones, that are designed to ensure students gain the competencies and expertise necessary to be more effective educators.  Your progress is evaluated using assessments that align with national professional standards at each milestone.  Successful advancement certifies that students have the knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions required to make positive impacts in their classrooms, schools, and communities.  Graduates will have mastered core concepts and principles in the field and are prepared to be effective teachers.

This program requires 12 weeks of full-time demonstration teaching.
