Program Overview

Walden University offers the Master of Business Administration degree as part of a self-designed program that will give students and professionals the opportunity to create a program that will address their needs more specifically than a specialization in advanced management principles, strategies, and techniques. The program offers the ability to combine specific specialization courses as well as study abroad opportunities and field study opportunities to complete the program. Students will create a program tailored to their professional activities and their interests.

The program consists of classroom courses that emphasize real-world education through examination of cases and education that will be applicable on the job. Those classes include applications in international business, individual and organizational commitment to social responsibility, a field study opportunity, global perspectives with a study abroad seminar, leadership practice and applications, foundations in project management, entrepreneurship and new venture creation, strategies for advancing innovation and technology, applications in marketing, applications in corporate finance, and applications in human resource management.

Finally, the capstone course will provide students an opportunity to examine critical issues and situations in management.

Through completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the professionalism and skill necessary to earn the degree. The qualifications demonstrate that the student has been able to apply the principles they have learned in the program into their eventual development as functional affective professional in their field. These qualifications include the ability to demonstrate an extensive and practical knowledge-base of theory, tools, skills, practices, and research related to business and be able to apply these to the problems and opportunities that are encountered in the 21st-century business environment.
