The Advertising and Graphic Design program from Wake Technical Community College includes courses in "hands-on" art and design as well as photography, copywriting, print and web design, client relations, and social media. Also included are computer courses covering all of the industry-standard software and technologies: Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, CSS, InDesign, and Edge. Creativity and technology combine to prepare students for the wide variety of job opportunities in this exciting field.

Employers in the graphics design industry are typically looking for employees who are artistic and skilled in industry-standard computer graphics and Web design software, with strong people skills for working with clients. Course topics in the online professional certificate program include Digital Design, Fundamentals of Typography and the Letterform, and Poster Design. Advanced Certificate students build on the professional foundation with additional graphic design courses in print design, brand identity, or other concentration areas with classes in print production, advanced typography, packaging design, and more.

Wake Technical provides cutting-edge iMac and PC computer labs for students’ use, in an effort to prepare them for the world in which they will be employed. Students who complete the Advertising & Graphics Design program may be qualified to enter a broad variety of interrelated fields utilizing digital media. Graphic designers create promotional material from billboards to buttons, mobile app icons, magazine layouts, illustrations for books and other stories, posters, computer clip art, brochures, product and packaging design, and much more.
