Qualified students are encouraged to pursue the Master of Arts in Organizational Management Degree at Virginia University of Lynchburg. This is a graduate-level program intended to prepare candidates for positions in higher management. This includes currently working individuals who may need extra education and focus in the foundation of business as well as those seeking work in a new area or organization.
This program may be taken online and in the classroom, depending on the education needs and traits of each student. Most applicants choose to complete the program online, as it provides the sort of flexibility that people with full-time employment need. This program is able to be completed in 36 -40 weeks.
The goal of this program is to instruct students in what “moves and makes business work.” Coursework instructs candidates in the advanced practices and fundamentals of management and leadership. Topics include the functional area of management and its structure, the role it plays in an organization, and the importance of the ethical framing of practice. Students may gain awareness from study in theory and experiential materials in order to integrate knowledge into their current or intended careers.
To earn the MAOM Degree, those enrolled must earn a total of 36 hours of credit from a set plan of study. The curriculum is made up of 12 three-credit courses on a range of relevant topics. Students will be instructed in the importance and impact of cultural issues and context, writing for both theory and research for a business setting, and spiritual and ethical issues and grounding in business. This program seeks to produce ethically-sound and effective business practitioners. Courses include Financial Management or Organizations, Leadership and Management Skills, and Legal Issues in Human Resource.

Virginia University of Lynchburg is a historically black, private university located on a suburban campus in Lynchburg, Virginia. In addition to VUL’s main campus in Lynchburg, teaching sites are located in Danville, Burgess, Petersburg and Suffolk, Virginia. VUL was founded in 1886, and is the oldest school of higher learning in Lynchburg. The school was incorporated as the Lynchburg Baptist Seminary in 1886 by the Virginia Baptist State Convention. Throughout its history, VUL has been known as the Virginia Seminary, Virginia Theological Seminary and College and Virginia Seminary and college, and received its current name in 1996.
