Program Overview

Vermont Technical College offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Business Management for students interested in learning the roles and responsibilities of management, giving students a background in business and management necessary for the tasks that they will encounter in the real world. Throughout the program, students will work to develop an understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in administrating a business, and develop their understanding of business communication, business operations, and the structure and systems utilized by businesses.

The program allows students to develop their professional understanding of any field by learning about the fundamental business operations that are inherent in any business. Examples of a few of the classes include financial accounting, human resource management, and introduction to business law.

Following graduation, students should have demonstrated the necessary educational qualifications for entry-level roles in business and management. Potential qualifications could include the ability to identify the basic principles used in the business world, to demonstrate the ability to apply basic business concepts to a variety of business situations, to demonstrate understanding of the mathematical functions and basic accounting practices necessary to conduct business operations, to demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effective and create a portfolio of business communications using a variety of software applications, and to demonstrate knowledge of business ethics and how business integrate social responsibility into their ongoing operations.

    Vermont Technical College is a public technical college that has main campus locations in Randolph Center and Williston, Vermont.  VTC is a member of the Vermont State Colleges, which is a consortium of the five public colleges in Vermont. VTC was founded in 1866, and is the only one of Vermont’s state colleges that specializes in technical education. The academic programs at VTC provide students with the skills that are needed to succeed in today’s technological workplace. VTC offers a career-oriented technical education in specialized study areas that are related to applied sciences, agriculture, engineering, business and sustainability and health sciences.

    Associate's and bachelor's degrees, certificates, and continuing education courses are offered. Students that receive a VTC education are prepared for workforce entry, continuing education, and life-long learning. Online learning continuing education and workforce development programs provide students with the skills that are needed for careers in healthcare, manufacturing, business and computer technology, and programs are also offered to professionals that allow them to receive continuing education. Online programs are open enrollment programs that make it possible for students to begin when they want to, and work at their own pace.
