Program Overview

Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology offers a Certificate in Airline Management for students and professionals interested in learning about airlines in preparation for managerial careers in commercial air carriers and airlines. Students will study the aspects of business management involved in airline operations and learn the necessary aviation and airline industry knowledge, management skills, marketing, law, and operations knowledge necessary for operations. Students have the potential to gain insight into the issues involved in running an airline from a leadership perspective.  

The program allows students to take part in a curriculum which will help further their understanding of the ongoing operations of airports. Classes students take include aviation laws and regulations, aviation industry operations, flight operations, and airline marketing.

Upon meeting graduation requirements, students will have demonstrated the necessary education and professional qualifications for management roles within airlines and airports. Skills individuals have the capability to learn include the ability to demonstrate the general ground operations of aviation and airports, to demonstrate an understanding of U.S. regulatory and legal restrictions and regulations related to commercial air transportation, to demonstrate an understanding of federal aviation regulations that influence air carrier and commercial operators, to demonstrate an understanding of the operation and management of corporate and business flight, and to demonstrate an understanding of the financial and managerial responsibilities involved in operations of an airline.

    School Overview

    Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology is a private specialized aviation and engineering college located on a 6-acre urban campus in Flushing, New York, witch is located in the New York City borough of Queens, adjacent to LaGuardia Airport. The school was founded in Newark, New Jersey, in 1932, and was originally known as the Casey Jones School of Aeronautics. In 1940, the location was moved to New York City. Vaughn received its current name, which honors founder George A. Vaughn, Jr., in 2004.

    Vaughn College offers associate's, bachelor's, and master's degree programs in technology, management, engineering and aviation, and a master’s degree program in airport management. Vaughn is a confirmed training partner of the Federal Aviation Administration, which gives students and graduates of the associate and bachelor programs in electronic engineering technology, avionics, an inside advantage in securing internships, and possible employment with the FAA. Vaughn is one of only 36 schools in the country that are approved for the FAA Air Traffic Control Collegiate Training Initiative, which allows Vaughn to make recommendations to the FAA to hire students as air traffic controllers.
