Aviation Maintenance Certificate - (Airframe and Powerplant)
Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology
Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology offers a Certificate in Aviation Maintenance of Airframe and Power Plant for individuals in maintenance who want to specialize in the care and servicing of airframe systems and power plant systems on private and commercial jet and propeller aircraft. Students will aim to develop the technical skills and systems analysis ability for entry-level positions as certified mechanics in the aviation industry. Through the program, students will prepare for responsibilities in airframe inspection, power plant inspection, and maintenance.
The program allows students to take part in a curriculum which will help enhance their understanding of aviation airframes and power plants. Examples of classes students would take include helicopter theory and operations, general maintenance records, and airframe hydraulics and landing gear.
Upon graduation, students will have demonstrated the necessary education and professional qualifications for specialized responsibilities in the care and maintenance of airplane power plant and airframe systems. Potential qualifications include the ability to demonstrate an understanding of aviation principles and the principles of aeronautic design needed for maintenance, to demonstrate critical thinking and communications skills necessary for roles in maintenance and management of aircraft, to demonstrate the ability to service, repair, and overhaul aviation electrical and hydraulic systems, and to demonstrate the ability to service and repair airframes, engines, and propellers on commercial and private propeller-based and jet-based aircraft.
