Global Supply Chain Certificate
Vance-Granville Community College
In the Global Supply Chain Certificate program students will learn how companies manage order fulfillment, purchase raw materials, manage warehouses, and arrange domestic and international transportation services. Global supply chain management encompasses not only the design and planning of supply chain activities, but also the execution, control, and monitoring activities that help companies to build a competitive infrastructure and create net value. Students will also learn about freight forwarders, shippers, supply chain collaboration, importing, exporting, third party logistics, and logistics technology.
The courses cover activities involved in the flow of products and information between the suppliers, customers, producers, and service providers. Topics include acquiring, purchasing, manufacturing, assembling, and distributing goods and services throughout the supply chain organizations. Graduates should qualify for positions in a wide range of government agencies, manufacturing, and service organizations. Employment opportunities could include entry-level purchasing, material management, warehousing, inventory, transportation coordinators, supply chain management, sourcing and procurement, supplier relationship management, or supplier diversity management, and logistics analysts. The GSC program teaches students the advanced technical skills needed to ship, track and receive goods in the international logistics world.
Vance Granville Community College offers an A.A.S. degree and several certificates from the global logistics curriculum. GSC students represent a variety of companies to include Ship on Site, Flextronics, B/S/H, Pacific Coast Feathers, Talecris, Revlon, Volvo, and many others. Upon successful completion, students should be able to integrate procurement, operations and logistics management functions across the global supply chain, implement the best supply chain design for the company to sustain its operations in the long term, and identify the dynamics of purchasing, procurement and sourcing activities and their impact on the supply chain as a whole.
