Typically, logistics personnel rely on high-tech information systems to handle orders and monitor items as they move through a chain that might stretch thousands of miles. The Global Logistics curriculum will integrate written course materials, internet-based instruction and laboratory simulation. The courses will teach participants the advanced technical skills needed to ship, track and receive goods around the world.
This program will introduce both entry-level students to the logistics field, and also people currently employed in the field who would like to gain new skills. Graduates are trained for positions in a wide range of government agencies, manufacturing and service organizations. Employment opportunities could include entry-level purchasing, material management, warehousing, inventory, transportation coordinators, and logistics analysts. Upon completion, graduates may be eligible for certification credentials through APICS (The Association for Operations Management) and AST&L (The American Society of Transportation & Logistics).
