The Business Administration curriculum from Vance-Granville Community College is designed to introduce students to the various aspects of the free enterprise system. Students will be provided with a fundamental knowledge of business functions, processes, and an understanding of business organizations in today's global economy. Course work includes business concepts such as accounting, business law, economics, management and marketing.
Skills related to the application of these concepts are developed through the study of computer applications, communication, team building, and decision making. This program provides a survey of the business world, including topics such as the basic principles and practices of contemporary business. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of business concepts as a foundation for studying other business subjects. Graduates will learn the skills to prepared them for employment opportunities in government agencies, financial institutions and large to small business or industry.
The learning outcomes will allow students to: apply business concepts and demonstrate how business functions in a changing global economic environment, apply the basic accounting principles and demonstrate how to manage those principles in the business world, demonstrate a basic knowledge of management functions and how to apply them, and apply basic economic principles and concepts, monetary theories, and supply and demand models to individual and business situations. Students will also be taught how to make ethical and legal decisions, understand the process of marketing, and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner.

Vance Granville Community College is a 2-year community college located in North Carolina that serves Vance, Warren, Franklin and Granville Counties. VGCC was founded as Vance County Technical Institute in 1969 by the North Carolina General Assembly. VGCC is one of the North Carolina Community College System’s 58 schools. VGCC’s main campus is located in Vance County between the towns of Henderson and Oxford. VGCC offers educational services that develop students' life and academic skills and prepare them for entry into the workforce. The educational and training programs offered by VGCC promote the social, cultural and intellectual development of its students.
