Program Details

The Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner degree program from Utica College prepares nurses to become their patients’ primary point of contact for a wide variety of healthcare needs. The curriculum offers flexible online coursework designed to fit the life of a busy working nurse.

The online FNP degree begins with core courses in areas including nursing leadership and healthcare quality improvement. Students then gain advanced primary care skills in leadership, disease prevention, public health and epidemiology, and treating acute injuries and chronic illness. Practicum hours give nurses real-world experience treating individuals with asthma, diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic illnesses. Graduates are eligible to sit for FNP certification through ANCC or AANP.

An on-campus immersion experience allows students to gain hands-on experience with essential skills such as:

  • Orthopedic splinting

  • X-ray interpretation
