Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering
Western Governors University

Program Details

WGU’s online Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering (BSSWE) prepares students to build and maintain software applications across multiple platforms. This recently redeveloped BSSWE degree program covers core IT competencies, along with software, web, and mobile app development. Front- and back-end development are emphasized, with two tracks available: one for Java and one for C#. CompTIA, ITIL, and AWS certifications are included at no extra cost. Graduates of the BSSWE program will be equipped with the skills, knowledge, and certifications necessary to fill a variety of essential software engineering roles.

WGU offers low, flat-rate tuition that’s about half what students pay at other online universities. Our online programs deliver unparalleled flexibility, allowing students to complete coursework whenever and wherever works best for their schedules. Students also benefit from our competency-based learning model, which lets them complete most courses as quickly as they prove mastery of the material, making it possible to accelerate their progress and potentially graduate faster. Faculty mentors work one-on-one with WGU students, providing dedicated coaching, guidance, and support from enrollment through graduation and beyond.
