The University of the Southwest offers a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Healthcare Management that is well suited for students who wish to enhance their knowledge in business fundamentals and the healthcare industry. Graduates may find employment in hospitals, health care facilities, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and other healthcare related agencies. The Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Healthcare Management program consists of 120 total credit hours that has the potential to be completed in four years. Students are required to complete general education courses, institutional coursework, major coursework, and healthcare management emphasis coursework. General education topics that students will cover include fine arts, humanities, social science, science labs, mathematics, computer applications, economics, composition, literature, and speech. Major level coursework students are required to complete consist of principles of accounting I & II, business law, principles of finance, principles of management, ethics, organizational behavior, creating a business plan, and principles of marketing. Lastly, students will complete healthcare management emphasis courses. These courses include human resources, healthcare management, management information systems, healthcare financial management, healthcare informatics, managing diversity, strategic planning, leadership, effective org. teams, and legal issues in healthcare management. These courses are designed to ensure that students are well prepared to further their education and obtain employment within the healthcare management field.

This online learning environment provides flexibility for enrolled students who are employed or have other obligations. Students must be highly disciplined to complete a large amount of coursework. Time management and word processing skills are very important for students who enroll in this degree program. In order to graduate, students must earn a minimum GPA of 2.50 (on a 4.0 scale) in the healthcare management emphasis area and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
