The Master of Science in Information Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity is an online information technology degree from the University of the Potomac for those interested in working to prevent and respond to cyber-attacks.  You will gain an understanding of leadership from a cyber perspective and learn about the boundaries of cyber law as it applies to cyber space and cyber warfare.  This online cybersecurity degree program ensures you will stay current in information that applies to hacking methodologies, technologies, cyber forensics, and countermeasures that will help you make strategic decisions about the operation and defense of networks in cyberspace.  The curriculum is divided into three main areas:

  • Leadership
  • Cyber Law & Policy
  • Strategy

As part of the leadership area, courses teach students about the type of training and staff needed and ways to properly screen the staff.  Cyber Law and Policy courses examine current laws regarding hacking while focusing on the invasion of privacy, identity theft, and fraud.  Strategy courses allow you to put your new skills to work, creating plans that can be used to defend an enterprise network from attackers.
