In 1890, in a boomtown on the North Texas prairie, Joshua C. Chilton established the Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute with 70 students. Today, the University of North Texas is a public research university with 37,000 students and a path to any career. It has grown into one of the nation’s largest public universities with a wide-ranging impact. For 125 years and counting, the University of North Texas has fulfilled its mission to create leaders and visionaries.
