Program Details

The online Doctor of Philosophy in Energy Engineering program offers a graduate education that focuses on energy engineering fundamentals, independent research, and career preparation, with the flexibility to customize the program according to the students’ interests.  The program helps you master fundamental topics in energy engineering and apply them to research problems with practical significance while you learn to be proficient at research and at designing, conducting, and managing independent energy or energy-related research projects.  Students can perform research in broad categories such as:

  • Stationary power generation
  • Production of liquid and gaseous fuels and specialty chemicals
  • Transmission and distribution systems
  • Environmental cleanup and protection
  • Integration into new technologies

Requirements

  • Statement of goals
  • A M.S. degree in an engineering discipline with a GPA of at least 3.0
  • GRE score, only if prerequisite degree is not accredited by ABET
  • Resume

A minimum of three campus visits are required.
