Program Details

The online Advanced Graduate Certificate in Biobehavioral Nursing program from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas prepares students for research using biological, behavioral, and associated factors which influence health and illness. Graduates of the program possess the ability to:

  • Adapt the core components of team science into the development of an interdisciplinary research plan
  • Evaluate the common methodologies genomics, proteomics, and behaviors used in biobehavioral nursing research
  • Demonstrate an understanding of theoretical models and basic concepts used in biobehavioral research
  • Examine the common biological pathways and biomarkers that are associated with the student’s phenomenon of interest
  • Generate a set of reliable and valid biological data
  • Develop protocols for the use of laboratory assays to generate a reliable and valid set of biological data


  • Must be a registered nurse who has completed a Ph.D. or other research-focused doctorate
  • Requires a two-week laboratory immersion experience intensive in the summer
