Program Details

An online library science degree can equip you with the credentials for multiple positions in the public and private sectors. Careers can include positions, such as museum archivist, library media specialist, research analyst, medical reference librarian, and more.

Choose from four different concentrations.

  • The General library and information science degree online includes a range of coursework, from school librarianship and cataloging information to studies in e-learning information services and information services.
  • Archival Studies meets the standards set forth by the Society of American Archivists. Learn how to collect and maintain archival materials, including traditional paper records, audio and video, and digital documents.
  • E-Learning Information prepares professionals for today’s needs to manage information in online educational environments. Gain skills in instructional design, project management, information literacy instruction, and more.
  • The Library Media Specialist allows librarians to acquire digital and traditional literacy skills. This particular focus is intended for certification in Missouri but may apply to non-residents as well. Applicants can request more information to see if this option matches their needs.

While courses are offered fully online, optional in-person courses and events may be available. Most classes follow the traditional semester schedule, others are formatted in 8-week sessions. You can expect to complete this degree in as little as two years.
