Program Details

The online Post-Master's Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program from UMass Amherst prepares nurses to obtain psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner certification. The curriculum will equip students to:

  • Address the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual elements of mental health care
  • Apply for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner board certification examination
  • Work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings


  • A MSN from an accredited program of nursing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • An active RN license
  • Psychiatric mental health nursing experience preferred
