University of Maryland at University College offers a Master of Science degree in Digital Forensics and Cyber Investigation for professionals in business, information systems, and investigation whose professional activities and career goals involve the utilization of computer data to identify attacks on computer networks, examine attacks to determine attack methods, to handle evidence to prevent corruption or damage, and to investigate attacks in order to determine the cause and those responsible.
Students will study a curriculum designed to train them in the investigative techniques and forensics of cybersecurity and response to digital attacks. Those classes include orientation to graduate studies at university of Maryland, cyberspace and cybersecurity, ethics, legal issues, and psychology and other human aspects in cybersecurity, cyber crime investigation and digital forensics, digital forensics investigation, and cyber incident analysis and response.
Upon completion of the program, students will be versed in the technical and human aspects of forensic and investigative analysis of computer networks. Qualifications include the ability to apply the basic procedures and technologies for conducting successful forensic examinations of digital media storage devices and computer networks, to design procedures at a suspected crime scene to ensure that the digital evidence obtained is not corrupted, to conduct hands-on forensic searches to identify how digital media and/or digital networks were compromised and the methods of intrusion employed, to employ the rigorous procedures necessary to have forensic results stand up to scrutiny in a court of law, and to understand the operation of the digital components handled so that all necessary forensic evidence can be extracted and validated.

The University of Maryland, University College is a public university that was founded in 1947. The main headquarters of UMUC is in Adelphi, Maryland, a town that borders College Park. UMUC is one of eleven divisions of the University of Maryland and provides quality educational opportunities for primarily non-traditional adult students.
