Program Details
The University of Maryland-Baltimore County offers an online Certificate in Distance Education ideal for those who create, deliver, support and measure training, learning and performance within organizations. Graduates are prepared to work in a variety of positions, such as trainers, instructional designers, instructional technology specialists, eLearning developers, or training managers. The program combines research and practical design experience as well as emphasizing implementation of technology with instruction. Ultimately, CDE students learn the theoretical principles and practical applications of designing effective online training and instruction for both corporate and educational settings.
The Distance Education Certificate is a 12 credit hour program. Students take the following courses in: Instructional Systems Design I, Principles of Distance Education, the Online Classroom, and Corporate Distance Training. Students may apply the credits earned through this certificate program toward a Master’s degree in Instructional Systems Development at UMBC. This certificate also does not require a specific undergraduate degree for entry into the program.
