Master of Education in Educational Leadership
The University of Kentucky (UK) offers a hybrid Master of Education degree with a concentration in Education Leadership. The hybrid environment of this course offers students increased flexibility and convenience of attending certain portions of the class during their free time.
The Education Leadership program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to become successful leaders in an educational setting. This degree program may be beneficial for students wanting to pursue careers in higher education, as well as community college leaders and teachers. This program is customizable and may be partnered with many elements to create an educational leadership program geared toward the students’ interests and needs.
The curriculum allows students to participate in a variety of courses, including School Safety and Discipline Leadership, School Law and Ethics, Securing and Developing Staff, and School Technology Leadership, among others. In addition to taking the leadership core classes, students must also take one graduate level statistics course.
The University of Kentucky requires students to fulfill 30 credit hours to complete the program. Once admitted into the program, students will be assigned an advisor and will meet with them during the first semester to create an individualized curriculum contract that will be reviewed each year and updated accordingly. Students will also be required to complete a summative assessment in which they will select an assignment from one completed course that has an action research component and work to revise and expand the paper for the oral exam.
