Program Details

The Certificate in Child Advocacy Studies (CAST) is a three-course program to help train and educate frontline child welfare workers. The curriculum has been approved by the Zero Abuse Project.

Courses are designed to increase knowledge of key child maltreatment concepts. Current University of Illinois at Springfield students can add this certification to their existing curriculum. New students may complete certification for additional career opportunities, and professionals can use the program to fulfill continuing education requirements. 

Students will complete courses in:

  • Perspectives on child maltreatment and child advocacy
  • Professional and system response to child maltreatment
  • Global child advocacy studies OR Childhood trauma: risk and resiliency
