Program Details

The University of Florida’s Entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy Degree is offered in an online format through the Gainesville campus. The Entry-level Pharm.D. program is intended for students seeking first admission into the pharmacy profession. This program is designed to help students reach a higher level of professionalism through a curriculum that includes supervised clinical and practical experiences.

This degree has a high level of student immersion, as they will learn and work in community hospitals or pharmacy settings. In addition to the dynamic coursework, students are expected to participate in an externship in which they will receive practical training in delivery top-notch pharmaceutical care services.

This program is the result of faculty collaboration from five departments, including the Pharmaceutics Department, Pharmacodynamics Department, Medicinal Chemistry Department, Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy Department, and Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research Department. This wealth of exceptional faculty members strives to impart a quality pharmacy education so that graduates may provide pharmaceutical care to patients in a wide variety of practice environments. This program may be completed in as few as four years. Some graduates of this program have achieved high levels of leadership in national associations, and have received numerous recognitions for their commitments and achievements in the pharmacy profession. Many Pharm.D. program graduates from the University of Florida have gone on to enjoy careers in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, community pharmacy, hospitals, and more.


Students must hold an graduate level degree in pharmacy from an accredited institution.
