Program Details

The University of Florida’s Master of Science in Education is made possible by the university’s College of Education, and is tailored to provide working administrative professionals and teachers an online Educational Leadership degree from a nationally ranking university. This program’s distance learning delivery was designed with working educators in mind who wouldn’t normally have the freedom to pursue a traditional master’s certificate on-campus due to family, location, or work commitments.

The coursework for the M.S. in Education program is based on the Florida Leadership Standards. The curriculum consists of 36 credits taken over the course of two years, and aims to equip the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in this critical field. The faculty charged with leading this program is nationally known, and primarily comprised of experienced principals and superintendents. Additionally, this course of study includes mentoring and support for practicing school teachers.

Some of the strengths of this program include preparing candidates for the Florida Educational Leadership Exam, which leads to Florida Certification. Students may apply what they learn in the online classroom into their work settings the very next day. There is also a highly collaborative element involved in this program, as students participate in a professional learning community focused on educational leadership. Students may also collaborate with other professionals in an online learning environment.
