Program Overview

The University of Florida’s (UF) Master of Science in Civil Engineering is delivered through the university’s College of Engineering, which is ranked as the #1 engineering college in the state of Florida, and administered under the Department of Civil and Coastal Engineering. UF’s Master’s program in Civil Engineering is highly renowned, consistently ranking in the top 10 programs of its kind in the United States. This program is designed to encompass the broad nature of this field, including the design, construction, and enhancement of society’s infrastructure.

The core curriculum of this degree program consists of ten courses, or 30 credits, for the non-thesis track. Through this curriculum, students will receive a diverse and thorough education in civil engineering, taught by faculty members who are esteemed engineers themselves with years of field experience. One of the courses students will take through this program spans the topic of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering, which focuses on structural analysis and design and on the foundations of geotechnical engineering. Another course topic is Transportation Systems, which places an emphasis on transportation planning and operations and traffic engineering. Another class students will take through this course of study is Water Resources Engineering. Once students have successfully completed the required curriculum for the M.S. in Civil Engineering program, they may possess all of the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in this diverse field.
