Program Details

The University of Florida’s Certificate in Health Care Risk Management is a graduate-level course of study that is offered through an entirely online format. This certificate may be ideal for working professionals in the field of healthcare, or possibly law, who wish to gain a top-notch education in the critical field of health care risk management. This program’s distance learning delivery was designed with working professionals in mind; those who wouldn’t typically have the freedom to pursue a traditional graduate degree on-campus due to family, location, or work commitments.

Health care risk management is a branch of the larger health care field that focuses on minimizing the risks associated with patients’ health. Through the curriculum, which consists of four courses, or 12 credit hours, students may have the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge of health care standards, regulations, issues with negligence and malpractice, and identifying risk exposure in all healthcare settings. Students may also gain the skills to necessary to implement risk control techniques. Additionally, students may become aware of topics such as patient safety issues, quality improvement, and compliance. After successfully completing the curriculum and receiving the Health Care Risk Management Certificate from the University of Florida, some students have gone on to work as licensed Health Care Risk Managers, Administrators, or Supervisors in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals and private health care clinics.
