Energy - Gas Tubines Certificate
The University of Florida’s Graduate Certificate in Gas Turbines is a course of study that is offered through an entirely online format. This program is administered through the College of Engineering, and under the university’s EDGE Department. The Gas Turbine Certificate is designed to prepare students to enter careers related to gas turbine technologies.
The Gas Turbine Certificate’s required coursework consists of nine credit hours, or three courses. The curriculum takes approximately one year to complete, and students may enroll in classes during any semester. There is only one required course, and the other two courses are electives that students have the freedom to choose based on their personal interests and professional goals. The required course discusses the topic of Gas Turbines and Jet Engines, in which the theory and analysis of the major components of gas turbine engines are taught. The elective courses span the subjects of Energy Conversion, Special Topics in Mechanical Engineering, and Classical and Statistical Thermodynamics. Through these courses, students have the potential to learn about fatigue life and fatigue life analysis, mechanical design, energy conversion, physical metallurgy, strengthening alloys, and much more. Once students have successfully completed the required curriculum, they may have a competitive edge in this field.
