The University of Florida’s graduate level Certificate in Sustainable Construction may be completed entirely in an online classroom. This certificate is delivered through the university’s College of Design, Construction & Planning and under the M.E. Rinker Sr. School of Building Construction. This program is intended for individuals who desire to accomplish specialized study in the field of International Construction Management. This program’s distance learning delivery was designed with working professionals in mind that wouldn’t normally have the freedom to pursue a traditional graduate certificate on-campus due to family, location, or work commitments.
This is a particularly good time to pursue this career, as there is current growth in the international construction market. More corporations are doing business internationally, and under the World Trade Organization, construction industry professionals are within their rights to practice their profession outside the country of their citizenship. This makes international sustainable construction a possible excellent field of work to pursue. This certificate equips students with the understanding of how the construction industry operates on a global basis that is necessary to succeed in this field. This course of study consists of a concentration of four courses, or 12 semester hours, that are necessary for certificate completion. The courses span the topics of Principles of International Sustainable Construction, Construction Ecology & Metabolism, High Performance Green Building, and Supervised Research. Through this program, students may be able to build a foundation in Sustainable Construction, and greatly expand job opportunities in this field.
