Certificate in Forensic Drug Chemistry
The University of Florida offers a certificate in Forensic Drug Chemistry through a completely online format. This graduate level certificate program is designed to provide the student with a strong base of knowledge in analytical techniques, drug pharmacology, forensic drug chemistry, expert testimony, QA/QC procedures, and drug synthesis. The program targets students who are working in, or interested in seeking employment in the areas of law enforcement agencies, military services, and pharmaceutical industry. This program’s distance learning delivery was designed with working professionals in mind who wouldn’t normally have the freedom to pursue a traditional certificate on-campus due to family, location, or work commitments.
The core curriculum of this program consists of five courses, or 15 credits. The classes that students take while enrolled in the Certificate in Forensic Drug Chemistry program span topics such as Forensic Toxicology, Medicinal Chemistry of Drugs of Abuse, Pharmaceutical Analysis, and Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry. The program is all-encompassing in its offering of forensic pharmacology, drug synthesis, expert testimony, and quality assistance & quality control procedures. Upon completion of the required coursework, students should receive a University of Florida Certificate in Forensic Drug Chemistry which may equip them with the knowledge base and skill set necessary to succeed in this exciting field.
