Program Overview

The University of Florida’s Certificate in Biomedical Engineering is a course of study that is intended for individuals who are working in, or who are interested in learning about biomedical engineering. This program is offered through an entirely online format that was designed with working professionals in mind. These individuals wouldn’t normally have the freedom to pursue a traditional biomedical engineering certificate on-campus due to family, location, or work commitments. Through this program, students may be able to further their education and enrich their careers without sacrificing their work and family life.

Through this certificate, students may become certified in an advanced body of knowledge in a number of specialty areas without formally pursuing graduate degrees. The specialization areas that are pursued by Biomedical Engineering Certificate students relate to the scientific, clinical, technologic, legal, and economic aspects of biomedical engineering. The Certificate in Biomedical Engineering is intended to enhance any existing graduate-level engineering degree. The core curriculum of this program consists of six courses, or 16 semester hours. Once students have successfully completed the Biomedical Engineering Certificate curriculum, students may be prepared to enter this diverse and innovative field.
