Program Details

The University of Florida’s Bachelor of Arts in Biology degree explores the functions, development, and growth of living systems all around us. Students will learn the fundamentals of cells, genes, and other living structures that apply to the larger world.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited secondary school or the equivalent (G.E.D., etc.)
  • 18 academic units, 16 distributed as follows:
    • English (with substantial writing)
    • Mathematics (Algebra 1, Formal Geometry, Algebra 2)
    • Natural Sciences (two units must include laboratory)
    • Social Sciences
    • Foreign Language (must be sequential)
  • A cumulative C average in the academic core, as computed by the university, at all institutions attended, high school and college
  • A record of good conduct
  • SAT scores

Restrictions

UF is partially authorized for residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, and Washington. States pending authorization include: Kansas, Michigan, New York, and Oregon.

Distance education programs in allied health professions, counseling, education, nursing, social work, and veterinary medicine may require additional approval from state licensing agencies or boards. Out-of-state students who are considering applying to a professional program should contact the licensing agency or board in their state prior to enrollment.
