Program Overview

The University of Florida’s Certificate in Advanced Systems Engineering is an exciting course of study that is delivered through an entirely online format. The program is administered through the College of Engineering, and under the university’s EDGE Department. The Certificate in Advanced Systems Engineering is designed to further develop the content taught through the basic Systems Engineering Certificate. This initial certificate program focuses on analysis, design, implementation, and optimization for application. The more advanced certificate program includes two additional courses, which emphasize operations research methods, applied probability, reliability, and digital simulation techniques in systems.

The required curriculum for the Certificate in Advanced Systems Engineering consists of five courses, or 15 credits. These classes have the potential to enable students to build the systems skills necessary to balance the technical skills required in order to understand the complexity of systems. Once the required courses have successfully been completed, graduates have gone on to work start in a number of different positions. Some of the careers of UF Advanced Systems Engineers graduates include System Analyst, Operation Engineer, Risk Advisor, Consultant, Logistics Engineer, and the list goes on. Some of these positions were in fields such as design, manufacturing, production, and Industrial and Systems Engineer strongholds in supply chain management and logistics. Application of these areas may be seen in a number of fields including energy, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, defense, healthcare, and retail. With a Certificate in Advanced Systems Engineering from the University of Florida, graduates may be equipped with a decisive competitive employment edge in this field.
