Tiffin University offers the Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Justice Administration for professionals interested developing their professional credentials by studying criminal justice administration and the roles and responsibilities of managers and administrators within the criminal justice system. Leaders in this field have the unique and demanding responsibilities of dealing with emergencies, managing criminal populations or criminal activity, and preserving the peace, all while maintaining a respect for individual rights and freedoms. Students in the program will utilize practical lessons in management of criminal and justice organizations in order to develop their career and professional opportunities.
Students will study material through courses which relate the fields of management and criminal justice education. Those classes include issues and trends in contemporary criminal justice, statistical applications in criminal justice, human resources management, research design and analysis, legal and ethical issues in criminal justice, justice administration policy formulation and analysis, administrative law and management, administrative theory in justice administration, education and training analysis and design, and a professional seminar in criminal justice.
Students completing the certification will have demonstrated the necessary educational and training qualifications for tasks and responsibilities related to justice administration. Those qualifications include utilizing theory and research to analyze historical trends and current perspectives in criminal justice, how to use research to evaluate factors related to crime and the impact of crime on criminal justice policies, practices, and procedures, how to evaluate the impact of the constitutional policy and procedures on the criminal justice system, and how to analyze the impact of the criminal justice process on victims and perpetrators.
