Master of Science Degree In Criminal Justice, Crime Analysis
Tiffin University offers the Master of Science in Criminal Justice degree with a specialization in Crime Analysis for students and professionals that are interested in developing their career understanding of law enforcement and justice by studying the principles and procedures of law enforcement, criminal justice, criminal behavior, and sociological analysis. Students will study the theories, laws, policies, and practices associated with criminal and delinquent behavior as well as government response to criminal violations. The program is based on the study of social sciences and focuses on analysis of the law in an effort to analyze and prevent criminal activity.
Students will focus on sociology and other social studies and their application in analysis of criminal behavior. Those classes include theories of crime analysis, contemporary criminal justice issues and trends, statistical applications in criminal justice, computer applications in crime analysis, community policing, and investigations, criminal intelligence, research design and analysis, legal and ethical issues in criminal justice, geographic information systems and their applications in criminal justice, crime analysis, and several professional seminars in criminal justice
By completing the program, students will have demonstrated their professional qualifications in the studies of criminal justice and sociological topics related to the application and studies of justice. These qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to explain concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and trends in criminal justice, to demonstrate the ability to apply legal and ethical principles to the criminal justice system, to describe the structure, function, and interaction of key institutions in criminal justice, to discuss the patterns, typologies, and root causes of crime, and to apply criminal justice concepts, processes, and practices to social justice and social change.
