Program Details

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley offers a Master of Education in Bilingual Education. Students of this program will learn practices to meet the needs of native Spanish speakers. The program develops leaders of these practices to provide a rich learning environment.


  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0, or minimum GRE scores of 150 Verbal, 141 Quantitative, and 4.0 Analytical
  • Official transcripts from each institution attended
  • Two letters of recommendation from professional or academic sources
  • Two personal statement essays
  • Resume including educational background and work experience
  • Documentation of one of the following:
    • Teacher certification in the U.S. or Licenciatura or equivalent from another country, in a field related to education or language, or
    • Employment in a charter school, private school, or a community college
