Program Details

The Physician Executive MBA (PEMBA) program at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville is a preeminent, nationally ranked degree program exclusively for physicians seeking leadership, management, and business skills. The innovative blended-mode course combines distance learning with residence periods on the University of Tennessee-Knoxville campus and allows students to complete their Physician Executive MBA in a single year. They have developed their proprietary High Compression LearningSM method to deliver knowledge and experience in the shortest possible time frame.
 
This blended-mode PEMBA a lockstep program, so students and their classmates will move through the same coursework at the same pace. Rather than offering electives, the program integrates all business disciplines into one holistic course of study that covers the topics most important to physicians in leadership roles. Students will acquire a broad, deep base of general business knowledge plus a profound understanding of the business of healthcare.

Requirements

A medical doctorate (MD or DO) from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent (MBBS, MB ChB, BM, BMed). GMAT scores are not required. A minimum GPA of 2.7, or a 3.0 during the senior year of undergraduate study. Previous graduate work (including foreign degrees) must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale or equivalent. However, a strong record of professional or educational accomplishment may be considered an acceptable substitute if your GPA does not meet the minimum requirements. A minimum of five years work experience in healthcare is required
