Master of Science in Information Sciences

Program Details

The University of Tennessee-Knoxville offers a Master of Science in Information Sciences program in which students gain knowledge of the generation, production, management, dissemination, and uses of information. Students achieve an understanding of the various roles that organizations and institutions play in promoting the flow and use of information, as well as the role of the information professional as mediator between information resources and their users, and the various tools and technologies in facilitating access to and use of information.


Applicants with an undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or above will be considered for admission. A one day orientation is required at the begining of the program. Transcripts. A written statement of career objectives. Students return to Knoxville at the conclusion of the program to take the comprehensive examination or to defend a thesis.
