The BS in Health Sciences / Global Leadership in Disaster Response from GW trains leaders to act in an emergency. The online public health program equips students to lead in challenging situations. The goal is to mitigate the impacts of disasters.

The online curriculum integrates principles of public health, medicine, and disaster response and recovery. Graduates gain the knowledge and skills to do the following:

  • Assess and select the best leadership approach for managing a complex disaster
  • Handle human and financial resources in disaster and emergency settings
  • Compare and apply best strategies for preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation for any crisis
  • Manage all teams in diverse, inter-agency environments through effective communication and collaboration

Originally designed to aid special operations medics in military service, the program also works for those with all their general education requirements. The fully online curriculum, with asynchronous classes, offers convenience while saving time and the cost of commuting.
