Program Details

As a completion pathway for you to earn your degree, The George Washington University offers an online Bachelor of Professional Studies in Police and Security Studies.  The program is intended for working professionals in law enforcement and was created in conjunction with police and security experts in the metropolitan area.  With a 100% online platform, you can work full-time, while having the flexibility to study around your job and personal obligations.  GW’s online Police and Security Studies focuses on fundamentals and best practices in law enforcement, alongside leadership and communication skills.  Elective subjects within this curriculum include:

  • Transnational threats and security
  • Domestic violence
  • Media, public relations and crisis communication
  • History of Anglo-Saxon policing

Requirements

  • Completion requires 120 credits, including transfer credits
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Official transcript from every college and university you attended
  • Resume (waived for military applicants)
  • One letter of recommendation
  • Statement of purpose
  • Completion of a college-level English Composition course at a regionally accredited U.S. college or university with a grade of C or higher
  • Two or more years of work experience in the safety, security field, or military field, or an Associates Degree in a criminal justice related field
