Bachelor of Arts in English Secondary Education

Program Details

The online Bachelor of Arts in English Secondary Education program is designed to prepare educators to teach English in grades 6-12, which is middle and/or senior high school.  Educators are prepared to teach in both public or private schools.  The curriculum features a Biblical foundation along with foundation courses in General Education.  Courses specific to this degree include:

  • Survey of World Literature
  • Survey of American Literature
  • Survey of English Literature
  • Advanced Grammar
  • Advanced Composition: Theory and Practice

Requirements

Education programs first require completion of 50 hours of coursework, including General Education Foundation and Biblical/Theological Foundation requirements; with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better. BCF offers online associate programs in which students can gain entry credits. 

School application requires:

  • Active participation in a local Christian church for at least one year
  • Affirmation of faith and service form
  • Recommended by a local Christian church
  • Personal recommendation
  • Commitment to high moral character
  • Proof of immunizations for measles and rubella
  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • Official transcripts from any and all institutions of higher education attended
  • SAT or ACT test scores (waived for transfer students with 24 or more semester hours)
  • Home-school students may have added requirements
