The transition from school to employment, postsecondary education or independent living can be difficult for anyone, especially inpiduals with disabilities. The coursework required for Texas Tech University's online Graduate Certificate in Special Education Transition is designed to prepare people to help inpiduals with disabilities make this transition. This program provides specialized training for anyone working with inpiduals with disabilities in the transition from school to employment, postsecondary education, or independent living. It can be undertaken during a master's, doctorate, or post-baccalaureate certification program or as a stand-alone certificate.
The purpose of this certificate program is to train participants to be transition specialists. As a transition specialist, inpiduals will be competent in assessing unique needs of students with disabilities who are in transition, providing and designing appropriate and effective transition services, and collaborating and consulting with other professionals who are involved in transition services.
There are 15 credit hours in this program. Coursework is completed online and a prerequisite of a bachelor's degree is required. Completion time varies, students may take up to three classes each semester and two each summer session, making completion time vary by inpidual.
