Generic Special Education Graduate Certification Preparation Program
Texas Tech University provides the required coursework online for the Generic Special Education Graduate Certification Preparation Program. The degree plan includes all curriculum required for the Texas State Board of Education Certification Deaf and Hard of Hearing EC-12 Teaching Certificate. Certification also requires a passing score on the TExES examination and a Masters Degree.
This program is available both as a stand-alone certificate or an area of emphasis with the Masters of Education in Special Education. The Special Education Program prepares educators and specialists to empower persons with exceptionalities to become independent and fully integrated members of a perse society. All programs focus on teaching and clinical experiences, issues of justice and persity, development and infusion of technology, and educator proficiencies and knowledge.
To accommodate the needs of working professionals, some of the graduate programs are offered through distance education. This program includes 24 credit hours and the Certificate can be pursued independently or concurrently with a master's program. Most courses are offered online, however some courses may require the use of Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC). A prerequisite of a bachelor's degree is required. Completion time varies. Students may take up to three classes each semester and two each summer session, making completion time vary by inpidual.
