Program Details

The online Graduate Certificate in Forensic Health Care is designed for registered nurses who want to gain additional skills in working with individuals involved in crimes and other traumatic events. Forensic nurses use their skills to treat patients with care and compassion while recognizing, collecting, and documenting forensic evidence that may be used in civil or criminal court cases.

This online nursing program consists of four core courses and two student-chosen electives. The core curriculum covers topics including the foundations of forensic health care, clinical implications and applications of victimology, the impact of violence across the lifespan, and forensic investigation of injury.

Students can choose electives from among topics such as:

  • Forensic sexual assault examination
  • Clinical pharmacology implications for victims
  • Human trafficking
  • Forensic photography
  • Policy and ethics with interpersonal violence
  • Forensic mental health
