Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics / TESOL

Program Details

The online Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics with a concentration in TESOL program is designed for educators who wish to teach English to non-native speakers.  The curriculum includes insights of theoretical linguistics to practical problems, such as the teaching of languages to adult speakers of other languages.  The Master of Arts option is for those who meet the foreign language requirements.  Courses include:

  • General Linguistics
  • Structure Eng Language
  • Teaching English as a Second/Other Language Methods I
  • Teaching English as a Second/Other Language Methods II
  • Sound Systems of English: Pedagogical Applications of Phonology & Phonetics

Requirements

This degree program requires 30-36 credits for completion.

  • All official transcripts
  • Official GRE scores OR one of the following:
    • Completed master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least a 3.0 overall graduate GPA
    • Completion of 12 graduate hours with a minimum of 3.00 overall from a regionally accredited institution
    • An awarded bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with at least a 3.00 GPA on the last 60 hours of the degree or an overall GPA of at least 2.75
