St. Petersburg College offers the online Certificate in Medical Coder. With this certificate, students learn how to transform medical diagnoses, procedures and injuries into designated numerical codes. Courses cover topics such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and clinical disease processes. Students will learn how to help keep medical practices on track by ensuring data quality, accuracy and accessibility. This program provides training in the clinical classification systems International Classification of Disease (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT).
