Program Details

The online Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology program is designed to prepare students to assist veterinarians in a variety of procedures.  This program also prepares students for the national certification exam and can be used to transfer to the B.A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology.  Coursework trains students in a wide range of skills including radiology, nursing, dentistry, surgical preparation, anesthesia, and clinical laboratory tests.  Courses may include:

  • Animal Anatomy
  • Veterinary Med Terminology
  • Small Animal Breeds and Behavior
  • Animal Physiology
  • Animal Pharmacology


  • Requires 73 credits for completion, including transfer credits
  • Completion of at least 18 credit hours of the general education and support courses, including all communications, math, and natural science requirements
  • Completion of a minimum 40 hours of Veterinary Hospital Observation and discussion with a veterinarian and veterinary technician in a veterinary practice
